The Tiverton & District Model Engineers' Society is a small model engineering club with approximately 50 members, and is a member of the Northern Association of Model Engineers.

The inaugural meeting was held on 7th February 1975 at Blundell's School in Tiverton. A track was established in the school grounds, but due to developments at the school, the club was forced to remove its track in 1987.

The club became a limited liability company in 1996, and in 1998 was able to purchase a piece of land, approximately an acre, on Worthy Moor. Over the subsequent 10 years, a new dual gauge raised track was built on the site. See the "Track" link on the left for more details.

The club provides model engineers in central and north Devon with a society where they can discuss engineering matters, share experiences, and run traction engines, steam locomotives or other models.

We hold three organised events each month, consisting of two running days at our Worthy Moor track (one on the first Saturday of each month, and a second on the Sunday following the third Friday of the month), and a club meeting at The Old Heathcoat School Community Centre on the second Friday of the month, at which we attempt to have a talk, demonstration or other entertainment, as well as leaving time for a general gossip. These meetings are suspended for the moment, due to Covid-19.

In the summer, one of the Saturday running days is combined with our club barbecue, and those members present on the day vote for which model has been the "most entertaining". The owner is then presented with the Vic Feeney challlenge cup.

See the Meetings page for full details of our events, including our Open Days, boiler testing days, and track maintenance days.
